Springbridge is a family firm employing 12 people. Bob and Julia Hawkins founded the company 25 years ago and still work in the business.

But son Tom has now joined as sales director and is enthusiastic about the growth prospects for the firm. He says, “Customers are much more demanding of their suppliers than used to be the case. Springbridge has responded to that demand by reorganising its office systems and investing in modern equipment. Our costs are lower than others which means our prices are lower and so we’re more competitive. We’re now getting huge contracts from national companies because we’re reliable and easy to work with.”
Focus on Customer Needs
But Tom is also eager to explain that Springbridge is more than just another volume aggregates supplier. “We make our own topsoil and it’s our biggest selling product. We’ve responded to our customers’ confidence in us by ensuring that we blend only top quality constituents that we’ve purchased from source. We know that customers want soil that will not dry out or become saturated and which will keep providing nutrients for years to come. It’s our focus on customer needs that has allowed us to grow.”
It’s All About Quality
He continues, “It’s the same with all our products. Even if we don’t make them ourselves we ensure that we know where they came from and that we always receive the best consignments. It’s not rocket science, it’s just a continual focus on getting it right.”
The Springbridge team is looking forward to the next 25 years.
